Celebrate Mother's Day with a visit to the Museum, and a ride on a train hauled by a real life steam engine.

Unlimited rides on a train hauled by one of our vintage Steam Locomotives, Diesel Railbus & Mini Rail

Tell mother you love her this Mother’s Day and treat her to unlimited steam, Diesel and Steam Mini Rail train rides here at the East Anglian Railway Museum.

Let your kids let off some steam on our train themed playground and also pretend to be a bus driver on our play and picnic bus.

We are also planning to run our vintage Diesel Railbus which has taken 10 years for our volunteers to restore. so come along and say hi to the volunteers.

The Museum is open for you to look around the various buildings, trains, displays and exhibits – details of what you can see can be found on our Standard Museum Admission page.

We operate unlimited rides running on our demonstration line, starting at 11:00 – 15:00, the Museum opens at 10:00 right through until 16:00.

Our very own miniature pub will be open selling beers, ciders, wines and soft drinks.

 

Check out our working Restoration Shed, See how the volunteers are getting on with the restoration of Lamport, the magnificent Victorian Goods Shed, period Waiting Rooms & Signal Box as well as the Thompson Centre & Train themed Children’s Playground, our site of over 10 acres is ideal if you would like to bring your own picnic.

While our volunteers redevelop our Heritage centre we have moved many of the Museums exhibits to a new room in the Thompson Building.
You can also see the work we are doing on our new Exhibition Hall which should be finshed by our team of volunteers towards the end of this year.

Event Timetable

Our trains run all day long with no fixed timetable from 11:00 to 15.00, and you can have as many rides as you like, whenever you like.

You can visit  Platform Two Cafe, which is run by our external suppliers, Stour Valley Catering – they’re open from 10am – 4pm (please note that food is not served by Platform Two Cafe after 2pm during the winter months) and serve tasty breakfast, lunch & snack options, as well as coffee, tea & a range of cold beverages.

The Museum is a registered Charity run by Volunteers, Gift Aid is a simple way for UK Tax Payers to allow the Museum to claim an additional 25% of the ticket price from HMRC.

Please note, prebooking closes at midnight before the event, tickets are then available on the door at the prices shown above.
