Mother’s Day Steam

Celebrate Mother's Day with a visit to the Museum, and a ride on a train hauled by a real life steam engine.

Unlimited rides on a train hauled by one of our vintage Steam Locomotives.

Tell mother you love her this Mother’s Day and treat her to unlimited steam train rides here at the East
Anglian Railway Museum.

Enjoy unlimited steam train rides
, access to the museum and it’s exhibits and unlimited rides on our
miniature railway
. Platform 2 Cafe will be open selling hot and cold drinks and snacks, and our very own miniature pub will be open selling a nice range of beers, ciders, wines and soft drinks.

Let your kids let off some steam on our train themed playground and also pretend to be a bus
driver on our play and picnic bus.

The Braintree & Halstead Model Railway Club will have their club rooms open with an impressive displ
ay of model railway layouts.

There will also be free vintage bus rides available thanks to the AJN 825
Preservation Group.

 

During our Mother’s Day Steam, The Museum is open for you to look around the various buildings, trains, displays and exhibits – details of what you can see can be found on our Standard Museum Admission page, with the added attraction of one of our heritage trains running, hauled by one of our home fleet of steam locomotives.

We operate unlimited rides starting at 10:30 – 15:00, the Museum opens at 10:00 right through until 16:00.

Check out our working Restoration Shed, See how the volunteers are getting on with the restoration of Lamport, the magnificent Victorian Goods Shed, period Waiting Rooms & Signal Box as well as the Thompson Centre & Train themed Children’s Playground, our site of over 10 acres is ideal if you would like to bring your own picnic.

Event Timetable

Our trains run all day long with no fixed timetable from 10:30 to 15.00, and you can have as many rides as you like, whenever you like.

On Site Catering

Feeling Hungry? 

You can visit  Platform Two Cafe, which is run by our external suppliers, Stour Valley Catering – they’re open from 10am – 4pm (please note that food is not served by Platform Two Cafe after 2pm during the winter months) and serve tasty breakfast, lunch & snack options, as well as coffee, tea & a range of cold beverages.

Children: (4-15) £9.50
Under 4s: Free 

The Museum is a registered Charity run by Volunteers, Gift Aid is a simple way for UK Tax Payers to allow the Museum to claim an additional 25% of the ticket price from HMRC.

Please note, prebooking closes at midnight before the event, tickets are then available on the door at the prices shown above.
