Unlimited rides on a train hauled by one of our vintage Steam Locomotives

Treat your dad this Father’s day and

enjoy unlimited steam and diesel train rides, as well as unlimited rides on our Miniature railway, and access to the museum and it’s exhibits.

Platform 2 Cafe will be open selling hot and cold drinks and snacks, and our very own miniature pub will be open selling a range of beers, ciders, wines and soft drinks. Molly Moo’s Ice Cream will also be in attendance.

Let your kids let off some steam on our train themed playground and also pretend to be a bus driver on our play and picnic bus.

During our Father’s Day Trains event, The Museum is open for you to look around the various buildings, trains, displays and exhibits – details of what you can see can be found on our Standard Museum Admission page, with the added attraction of one of our heritage trains running, hauled by one of our home fleet of steam locomotives.

We operate unlimited rides starting at 10:30 – 15:00, the Museum opens at 10:00 right through until 17:00.

Check out our working Restoration Shed, See how the volunteers are getting on with the restoration of Lamport, the magnificent Victorian Goods Shed, period Waiting Rooms & Signal Box as well as the Thompson Centre & Train themed Children’s Playground, our site of over 10 acres is ideal if you would like to bring your own picnic.

Find out more about what can be seen on the Standard Museum Admission page. Please note that for the duration of 2024, our Heritage Centre is now closed for redevelopment.

In the morning from 10:00 am we should have an impressive display of automotive royalty from Essex Car Meets, where there will be supercars, muscle cars and other headturners from the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, McLaren and more!

There will be plenty of photo opportunities, so make sure to have your phones and cameras at the ready.
These cars don’t hang about so arrive at 10:00am to see them
