Unlimited rides on a train hauled by one of our vintage Diesel Locomotives, DMU or Diesel Railbus.
During our Diesel Days, The Museum is open for you to look around the various buildings, trains, displays and exhibits – details of what you can see can be found on our Standard Museum Admission page, with the added attraction of one of our heritage trains running, hauled by one of our diesel locomotives, Class 101 DMU or Diesel Railbus running on our demonstration line.
A firm favourite with families, they’re a great opportunity to visit the Museum and have a ride in vintage wagons or carriages pulled by one of our restored Diesel Engines, on our Class 101 DMU (which used to run on the Marks Tey to Sudbury line) or our popular Waggon and Maschinenbau Railbus.
We operate unlimited rides starting at around 10:30 – 15:00, the Museum opens at 10:00 right through until 17:00 (16:00 during winter months).
Check out our working Restoration Shed, See how the volunteers are getting on with the restoration of Lamport, the magnificent Victorian Goods Shed, period Waiting Rooms & Signal Box and Train themed Children’s Playground, our site of over 10 acres is ideal if you would like to bring your own picnic.
Additionally our Model Railway club rooms will be open for you to see all the changes our volunteers have been making to the layouts.

The Miniature Railway is planned to be running during most Diesel Days.
Event Timetable
Our trains run all day long with no fixed timetable from around 10:30 to 15.00, and you can have as many rides as you like, whenever you like.

Feeling Hungry?
You can visit Platform Two Cafe, which is run by our external suppliers, Stour Valley Catering – they’re open from 10am – 4pm (please note that food is not served by Platform Two Cafe after 2pm during the winter months) and serve tasty breakfast, lunch & snack options, as well as coffee, tea & a range of cold beverages.

The Museum is a registered Charity run by Volunteers, Gift Aid is a simple way for UK Tax Payers to allow the Museum to claim an additional 25% of the ticket price from HMRC.
Please note, prebooking closes at midnight before the event, tickets are then available on the door at the prices shown above.
