We hold regular event days throughout the year, see What’s On for details.

Unlimited rides on a train hauled by one of our vintage Steam Locomotives on our Miniature Railway and Model Railway Show.

Our popular Model Railway Exhibition – but it’s not just small trains – one of our full sized steam locomotives and a Diesel locomotive will also be in action with unlimited rides all day on our demonstration line.

Our Miniature Railway will also be in operation giving rides, our friends from the Braintree and Halstead Model Railway Club will give you a warm welcome to the Model Railway exhibition featuring a number of visiting layouts in a variety of scales as well as a selection of model traders. the clubrooms will also be open displaying another 9 layouts.

Explore our Exhibition Hall that was offically opened at our Rail200 event in 2025 and check out our working Restoration Shed, See how the volunteers are getting on with the restoration of Lamport, the magnificent Victorian Goods Shed, period Waiting Rooms & Signal Box as well as the Heritage Centre Rooms in the Thompson Building & Train themed Childrens Playground, our site of over 10 acres is ideal if you would like to bring your own picn

Event Timetable

Our trains run all day long with no fixed timetable from 10:00 to 15.00, and you can have as many rides as you like, whenever you like.

On Site Catering

Feeling Hungry? 

You can visit  Platform Two Cafe, which is run by our external suppliers, Stour Valley Catering – they’re open from 10am – 4pm (please note that food is not served by Platform Two Cafe after 2pm during the winter months) and serve tasty breakfast, lunch & snack options, as well as coffee, tea & a range of cold beverages.

We also have our Pub (The Viaduct) open during the day and an 

Ice cream Van from Molly Moo’s Ices Lots of Ice cream flavoured choices along with Vegan ice cream, Sorbets and lollies

The Museum is a registered Charity run by Volunteers, Gift Aid is a simple way for UK Tax Payers to allow the Museum to claim an additional 25% of the ticket price from HMRC.

Please note, prebooking closes at midnight before the event, tickets are then available on the door at the prices shown above.
