A special Day of celebration for the anniversary of the Marks Tey to Sudbury line.
2024 marks 175 years since the Colchester, Stour Valley, Sudbury and Halstead Railway opened the railway line, and Chappel and Wakes Colne Station, where we are based.
We willl have a steam-hauled and our Diesel Rail Bus in operation giving unlimited rides on our demonstration line.- and the Museum 10 acre site will be open, additionally on the Sunday our miniature railway will be in operation and the Halstead and Halstead model railway club rooms will be open too.

Władysław Mirecki - Chappel Viaduct Art Display
Throughout the summer, including during this event we will be holding a special display within the Goods Shed to display 65 watercolour paintings by local artist Wladyslaw Mirecki, there’s no extra charge to see this display – for more details, please visit the Chappel Viaduct Art Display page.
Check out our working Restoration Shed, See how the volunteers are getting on with the restoration of Lamport, the magnificent Victorian Goods Shed, period Waiting Rooms & Signal Box as well as the Thompson Centre & Train themed Children’s Playground, our site of over 10 acres is ideal if you would like to bring your own picnic.

Event Timetable
Our trains run all day long with no fixed timetable from 10:30 to 15.00, and you can have as many rides as you like, whenever you like.

You can visit Platform Two Cafe, which is run by our external suppliers, Stour Valley Catering – they’re open from 10am – 4pm (please note that food is not served by Platform Two Cafe after 2pm during the winter months) and serve tasty breakfast, lunch & snack options, as well as coffee, tea & a range of cold beverages.

The Museum is a registered Charity run by Volunteers, Gift Aid is a simple way for UK Tax Payers to allow the Museum to claim an additional 25% of the ticket price from HMRC.
Please note, prebooking closes at midnight before the event, tickets are then available on the door at the prices shown above.
