Unlimited rides on a train hauled by one of our vintage Steam Locomotives.
The Canines Ride The Train Lines event returns for 2025. We love seeing your four legged friends riding on our trains, which is why we are dedicating a whole day to appreciate our Canine companions! Bring your dog and come for unlimited rides on one of our steam trains.
Please note: that Dogs are not allowed on the seats of our vintage carriages, especially our Diesel Railbus which has taken our volunteers over 10 years to restore, Thank you
There will be a small selection of trade stalls selling accessories and delicious treats for your dog. Come and meet the greyhounds from Clark’s Farm Greyhound Rescue Centre and also come and see how the Guide Dogs Trust train their puppies. For the humans, Platform 2 Cafe (run by Stour Valley Catering) will be open selling hot and cold food and drinks and our very own miniature pub, The Viaduct, will be open selling a range of beer, cider, wine and soft drinks and our friends from Molly Moos Ice Cream will also be in attendance.
Don’t forget our train themed playground for the kids!

Dogs are admitted FREE and will also receive a complimentary treat bag on arrival.
If you love dogs, whether you have one or not, this is the event to attend! Please note that although water bowls with be situated around site, you may want to bring your own provisions.
Please ensure you bring bags for any dog waste which can be disposed of in any bin around the site. Due to the nature of the site, dogs must be kept on leads at all times and we politely request that vicious dogs do not attend for safety reasons. Book your tickets online in advance now for a 5% discount!
Check out our working Restoration Shed, See how the volunteers are getting on with the restoration of Lamport, the magnificent Victorian Goods Shed, period Waiting Rooms & Signal Box as well as the Thompson Centre & Train themed Children’s Playground, our site of over 10 acres is ideal if you would like to bring your own picnic.

Event Timetable
Our trains run all day long with no fixed timetable from 10:30 to 15.00, and you can have as many rides as you like, whenever you like.

Feeling Hungry?
You can visit Platform Two Cafe, which is run by our external suppliers, Stour Valley Catering – they’re open from 10am – 4pm (please note that food is not served by Platform Two Cafe after 2pm during the winter months) and serve tasty breakfast, lunch & snack options, as well as coffee, tea & a range of cold beverages.

The Museum is a registered Charity run by Volunteers, Gift Aid is a simple way for UK Tax Payers to allow the Museum to claim an additional 25% of the ticket price from HMRC.
Please note, prebooking closes at midnight before the event, tickets are then available on the door at the prices shown above.
