Unlimited rides on a train hauled by one of our vintage Steam Locomotives on our Miniature Railway and Model Railway Show.
Our popular Small Trains Day is back for 2023 – but it’s not just small trains – one of our full sized steam locomotives will also be in action with the Freight Train giving unlimited rides all day.
Our Miniature Railway will also be in operation giving rides, and along with our friends from the Braintree and Halstead Model Railway Club there will be a Model Railway exhibition featuring 11 visiting layouts in a variety of scales as well as a selection of model traders. Plus the Braintree and Halstead Model Railway clubrooms will be open with another 7 layouts.
Thats a total of 17 Layouts to see!
Check out our working Restoration Shed, See how the volunteers are getting on with the restoration of Lamport, the magnificent Victorian Goods Shed, period Waiting Rooms & Signal Box as well as the Heritage Centre & Train themed Childrens Playground, our site of over 10 acres is ideal if you would like to bring your own picnic.

Vintage Bus Rides to Bures and back.
Our friends a the AJN Preservation Group will be bringing their preserved Bristol K Bus, AJN 825, previously of Westcliff on Sea Motor Services, Southend and a Leyland Leopard, HAC 628D.
Both of these will be offering rides to Bures and back.
This is included in your ticket at no extra charge!

Event Timetable
Our trains run all day long with no fixed timetable from 10:00 to 15.00, and you can have as many rides as you like, whenever you like.
On Site Catering
Feeling Hungry?
You can visit Platform Two Cafe, which is run by our external suppliers, Stour Valley Catering – they’re open from 10am – 4pm (please note that food is not served by Platform Two Cafe after 2pm during the winter months) and serve tasty breakfast, lunch & snack options, as well as coffee, tea & a range of cold beverages.
We also have our Pub (The Viaduct) open during tha day
Ice cream Van from Molly Moo’s Ices Lots of Ice cream flavour choices along with Vegan ice cream ,Sorbets and lollies

We’ve held our prices for 2023 – and if you book in advance you can also save 5%.

Under 4s: Free

The Museum is a registered Charity run by Volunteers, Gift Aid is a simple way for UK Tax Payers to allow the Museum to claim an additional 25% of the ticket price from HMRC.
Please note, prebooking closes at midnight before the event, tickets are then available on the door at the prices shown above.
