Save our Station Appeal

The East Anglian Railway Museum has launched it's Save Our Station Appeal to help fund urgently needed repair works to the main Station Buildings and the Goods Shed.
Our station buildings which date from 1880 are in need of a new roof, along with maintenance to the brickwork, the windows have also suffered from many years of harsh Chappel weather and need major repair work. The station complex houses the original Booking Hall, Ticket Office, General Waiting Room, Station Masters Office and Ladies Waiting Room with a reception centre and shop in the basement.
Our 1880s Goods Shed which stands in the middle of the Museum and is key to many of our fundraising activities on site and is the backdrop to our ever popular beer and cider festivals, as well as private hires such as corporate events, receptions and parties. It also became the home to the recent rebirth of pop group Blur, who practiced in this very shed before they went on to become famous, the shed roof now needs reslating before the water damage to the walls and beams gets worse and becomes an even more expensive job.
Work on the two projects is expected to cost around £60,000, and your donation what ever size will help us reach that target, those who donate will be entered onto the roll of honor which will be displayed in the Goods Shed when the project is completed.
